Equally important is the glazing process of steaming and wet brushing your furs, in tandem, to remove the matting of hairs caused from sitting. Left undone, the guard hairs of the pelts can be rubbed and broken, resulting in costly repairs. Shearlings and leathers are done much the same way, by hand and with the utmost care. Andre Furs recommends a cleaning every other year at minimum.
